The Development Program finances Canadian feature films at the development stage.
The Development Program has four streams:
- Prequalified Stream
- General Stream
- Indigenous Stream
- Stream for Black People and People of Colour
Since the summer of 2024, Telefilm has launched a pilot initiative called the Springboard Initiative by which projects that were unsuccessful under the Production Program but that were ranked highly may be invited to apply for development funding under this Program to strengthen their project. In 2025-2026, additional support will be provided to selected animation projects previously funded by Telefilm through the Development program. Details on this initiative are available below.
